The Full Belly Laughs Podcast performs live every first Thursday of the month at the Philly Improv Theater (PHIT).
Philly Improv Theater (PHIT)
Located in Center City Philadelphia, PHIT is the home for traditional improv and sketch comedy. Similar to Chicago’s Second City or NYC’s Upright Citizens Brigade, PHIT overs the City of Brotherly Love unparalleled improvised comedy. Each Wednesday at the theater every show features the best improv teams in the city performing in the classic Harold form.

What Kind of Shows?
The Philly Improv Theater has improv shows. What a shocker! You probably expected them to have sketch comedy, or off beat variety/concept shows like Full Belly Laughs. With two theater spaces, they put on shows 7 nights a week.
Full Belly Laughs at PHIT
The Philly Improv Theater was the first venue to allow our podcast to perform live on stage. We owe them a never-ending thank you for that opportunity. It’s been a blast performing there, and many incredible guests have graced the stage on the show. Shane Gillis, 2016 Philly’s Phunniest Winner, is just one example. Others include a bunch of funny people that haven’t won any comedy awards.
Prizes Prizes Prizes
For our live performances we always give away prizes. How it works is that the comedians on stage play on behalf of people in the audience. If a comedian selects you and that comedian wins, you walk away with all of the prizes! Past prizes include:
- Color Printer
- 3 copies of Road House on DVD
- Dora the Explorer Coloring Book
- Old Jeans that don’t fit Brian Durkin anymore
- DVD-Rs and CD-Rs
- Loose wrapping paper
- Gift Cards with at least 10 bucks on them
As you can see the prizes range from incredible to amazing. It’s recommended that audience members should pray to their creator of choice so the odds will ever be in their favor. We also suggest that audience members bring things to bribe the comedians into picking them. Food and booze are always great items, but it can be literally anything.
There are lots of fun shows at the PHIT. You should absolutely come see us, but also make time for these awesome things too.
People of Interest
Have you ever listened to Fresh Air on NPR? So that but the guests are played by improvisers, and they find out their characters upon introduction. It’s a fantastic show of long scene improv with interesting character exploration. It’s also the first Thursday every month at 7:30 pm. That’s the same night as the Full Belly Laughs podcast, so come to the theater early for a night of great shows.
Each month the producers announce a theme. Then comedians, improvisers, and sketch teams submit ideas and scripts to the show. The result is a themed show, only to be seen once. It’s far and away the funniest and most creative way to explore a topic. Come see the best of the best in Philly comedy right before you go to see Full Belly Laughs live. This show is always on right before us.
Each month beloved Philly comedians Roger C. Snair and Joe Moore assemble local talent to do dramatic readings of bad scripts, YouTube videos, and so much more. Roger even submits his own scribbles to be read during the show. If you like bizarre pieces of fiction brought to life by comedians, this is the show for you.
Beth & Ralph’s Porn Stash
Porn is weird. Whether it titillates or cracks up, porn tends to elicit reactions no matter what. The only problem is that most viewers watch in isolation. On this show the panel witness tasteful porn clips to generate topics of discussion regarding attraction, fetishes, and more. It’s the most comedic way to educate and discuss sex.
Super Human Horse
What if an improv show also improvised the team roasters? That’s the question this show answers, and it’s conclusive that it’s awesome. If you ever thought a improv show might be scripted, this will prove you wrong. The cast changes every month, and many of the actors have never met prior to the performance. You can’t who will play with who, but you can count on it being laugh out loud funny.
